School Phobia
Sometimes, something might happen in a school situation that can have a catastrophic effect on your child. This can lead to them refusing to go to school and becoming truant or phobic. It can be very distressing trying to get your child to return to school, particularly as they are likely to fall further behind the longer they stay away.
Support and reassurance
Clever Little Pickles can use one to one sessions to find out where the initial problem occurred and gently work to overcome the problem, moving your child forward in those areas until they feel able to return to a classroom setting. I can even support your child within class temporarily offering reassurance and encouragement until they are confident enough to work successfully in the classroom once more. Sessions of 1:1 tutoring during the period that your child is away from school will also help to stop them from falling behind.
Long-term Sickness
It is a great worry for you if your child is suffering from an injury or illness that has meant they are off school for a prolonged time. It is vitally important to the well-being and to the future of your child that when they are absent from school because of long term illness or injury they continue to have access to high calibre education. It does not follow that because a pupil is unable to attend school, because of a medical condition, that he or she is unable to learn for at least some of that period.
Clever Little Pickles can ensure that excellent educational opportunities are available for your child as soon as they are well enough to cope with it. Educational regression, even for a short period, can have a lasting effect on your child’s life chances. Education also plays an important part in recovery of health, providing normality, motivation and hope while your child is coping with serious illness. Education can be a lifeline for children who suffer long-term ill-health.
Clever Little Pickles can make a difference by building on the good foundations that have already been established by their school in a gently and positive way.
